Are you repurposing your content? In other words, you make the most of your content?
Not sure?
Let’s talk about content repurposing.
Repurposing your content is an amazing strategy that you need to start doing now if you haven’t already!
Because one, you’re spending so much time creating content you want to make sure you’re getting the most use out of it. Repurposing your content can help increase your reach and engagement while also saving time!
Two, it helps you to speak to as many people in your ideal audience as you can.
And three, it saves time!
So, what is content repurposing?
Content repurposing is taking one piece of content that you’ve already created and modifying it to use for a different platform or in a different format. Such as turning a video into a blog post and/or creating social media posts from a video or blog post.
You’ll want to think about which platforms you want to be on. Where your ideal clients are, which platforms make sense for the type of content you have, etc.
Let me break it down for you.
How to get started repurposing your content:
- Start with creating your large, long form content such as a blog post, podcast, or YouTube video.
- Think about which platforms you want to be on. Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, Pinterest, YouTube, and/or Twitter. This is also a good time to get your email list and a blog going if you haven’t yet!
- Put your long form content into an email to send it out to your email list!
- If you’re creating a blog post, you can shorten the copy and send your readers to read the full post.
- If it’s a podcast, share some quotes or part of the topic in written form and send your readers to listen to the full episode to hear more.
- If it’s a video, you don’t need to change the copy unless you want to since you’ll send your readers to watch the video. DO make sure you change any CTAs to fit in an email (i.e. don’t say “Leave a comment…, Click the link in my bio…, etc”)
- Divide your copy from your long form content into 2-3 social media posts including turning one of the posts into a reel and/or TikTok video. If you’re starting with a YouTube video, cut the video down into one or two videos (or more if you can!) to fit the max time for reels to catch just a short (but info packed!) snippet of it. Depending on your marketing goals, you can send viewers to watch the full video, send them to book a call, or something else like comment.
- If your long form content is a video or podcast, create a blog post with your video and copy. You can embed the video right in your blog post. This will help with your SEO on your website too!
- Create Pinterest pins to send out on Pinterest. Design anywhere from 1-10 pins per piece depending on how much time you have and schedule them to go out to your different boards. This works great when you have blog posts to drive traffic from Pinterest to! However, you don’t have to have a blog to use Pinterest, you can drive traffic from any and all the other places!
Tip #1: Include call to actions! What do you want your audience to do on your content?
Tip #2: Keep track of your topics and your status on each piece.
Use a calendar and spreadsheet such as Airtable, or use your project management software such as ClickUp or Asana. My favorite is ClickUp!
You’ll want a calendar to know what, when, and where everything is going out. Plus with using a tool such as ClickUp or Airtable, you’ll be able to have the copy for each piece, images/graphics/video, and status on the post such as if the copy is ready or not, if the post is scheduled, etc.
